Access Skills Training understand the importance of supporting students develop and improve their core and soft skills. Much of this skill development is at the heart of all our delivery. Our Adult Literacy and Numeracy courses offer both pre-accredited and accredited programs to develop the language, literacy and numeracy skills of individuals, whether it is for their own personal development, social requirements or to improve their employability skills.

22554VIC Course in Initial Adult Literacy and Numeracy

This qualification is the entry level in supporting students with an intellectual disability to support the development of their literacy and numeracy skills. Students will learn to read and write simple texts, learn about money, basic maths skills and measurements for everyday situations.

22555VIC Certificate I in Initial Adult Literacy and Numeracy

The Certificate I builds on the entry level content of the Course In and explores topics in more detail, such as understanding weight and measurements, writing simple sentences, creating short texts, understanding how to complete forms and using basic addition and subtraction.

Pre-Accredited Course – Digital Literacy

Fee: Fully Funded

Location: Bendigo, VIC

Delivery Mode: Face to face

Duration: 20 Hours: 2.5 hourly sessions over an 8 week period

This course will focus on introducing the use of computers to a learner group who have limited ability and confidence with digital technology and basic aspects of the internet. It will focus on providing learners opportunities to learn how to use a word processing application, as well as online communication, usage and safety.

The content will include the following sessions:

1: Computer components and basic functions
2: Online Safety
3: Accessing the Internet/Searching Online/Social Media
4: Microsoft Word processing/resume
5: Microsoft Excel spreadsheets/simple budget
6: Email
7: Video Calling/Communicating in the Digital World
8: Real estate online searches/Employment online searches/Accessing MyGov and Centrelink online

Pre-accredited Course – English for Living and Working in Australia

Fee: Fully Funded

Location: Bendigo, VIC

Delivery Mode: Face to face

Duration: 30 hours; 1 day per week for 20 weeks

This course will support learners from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities to learn about life in Australia in preparation for entering the Australian workforce.

This course is designed to pathway into further study of pre-accredited and accredited English courses, as well as employment opportunities.
